 Life is returning to the UK jobs market - REC
The latest unemployment figures from the Office for National Statistics show the smallest rise in the jobless total since mid 2008 and a decrease in the number of benefit claimants. Commenting on the data, REC Chief Executive, Kevin Green said: "The latest figures confirm that life is returning to the UK jobs market and is consistent with our own Report on Jobs which shows demand for staff at its highest level for two years. "Despite this more positive picture, the reality is that unemployment will continue to edge upwards well into next year which is why we need a real focus on helping those out of work.

 Treasury unemployment forecast points to years of slow jobs growth
The Treasury’s decision to publish a forecast of claimant unemployment in the Pre-Budget Report is a welcome move, according to John Philpott, Chief Economic Adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).But the forecast offers a very sober assessment of the medium-term outlook for the UK jobs market.  Fastest rise in permanent staff placements for 28 months
The recent upward trends in both permanent and temporary/contract staff appointments continued during November, according to the latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG Report on Jobs. Both permanent staff placements and temporary/contract staff billings increased at faster rates in November, with the latest expansions the strongest for 28 and 19 months respectively.
