Role Description:	It is an accounting job with a difference which may appeal to numerate individuals who are also computer literate. Working in the offices of one of the clients of an international consultancy - in the UK the consultancy is currently retained by 45 of the current FTSE100 - you will help to detect and recover overpayments (or undercharges) made to third parties. It is challenging and rewarding work - occasionally frustrating, but often fun. Working in a professional but informal atmosphere, you will enjoy problem-solving situations, using your own initiative. This is investigative work but in no way is this anything like Internal Auditing. Our objective is to recover as much ‘lost profit’ on behalf of our client as we can. We do not waste time writing reports that may not be read or acted upon. This is a 9.00 to 5.00 job in terms of hours (or 10.00 to 6.00 if you prefer!). No overtime is necessary and it is impossible to work at the weekends as you need access to the client’s accounting records. Whilst this is advertised as a full-time role (35 hours a week), there is flexibility in how those hours are worked – i.e. you can work four long days and have a 3-day weekend. What is missing? Experience & Skills Required:	The Commercial Decision The basic remuneration is a salary of only £25,000 per annum (£13.75 per hour). In addition, you will earn 0.5% of all money that you recover plus 0.1% of any money that the team recovers. The harder you look, the more you find. The more you find, the more you earn. This will be less than you are used to earning. I understand that. The question for you is: How does it compare with what you are currently receiving per annum? Then take into account the fact that you will have a real life at home with no work-related stress. My Experience I made this decision some years ago and I got my life back. Warning This is a role where you use your intelligence, imagination and previous experience to sniff out money. This is not strategy formulation or implementation. You need to be happy working in the detail. There is no one else to do the dirty bits for you. You have to do your own photocopying. So if you are not good with detail, this is not the job for you.
