This is the first newsletter and vacancy update of 2010. And what a SLOW start it has been. In fact it is dead out there. And that is not just my opinion but a number of candidates have called me in the last week to say the same thing. But we have had some successes since Xmas but I now need to restock the vacancies pond.
A few things to bring to your attention:
- The response to job 472 in Kenya was so overwhelming that I am thinking of setting up a branch in Nairobi.
- If you are on LinkedIn please join the mature accountants group. If we are not connected why not send me an invitation. In these challenging times the power of networking shouldn’t be underestimated.
- Over the last month I have been adding new opportunities to the commission only database. I appreciate that these types of roles are not for everyone and if not for you then please ignore this.
There are 2 opportunities which I would like to highlight.
1. I am always looking for introductions to companies that are recruiting. I am now personally managing the 3 main “mature” brands namely
I am always happy to pay commission cheques and my best “introducer” has made over £25,000 in the last 2 years. If you know of any opportunity and can open the door, I will do the rest. Commission payable is up to 30%. For a £50,000 role I charge £7,500 and you would earn £2,250 for a successful placement. I am looking for permanent and interim roles.
2. One of our business associates has developed a powerful data mining tool which allows companies to review historical data and to continuously monitor the integrity of its accounts processing systems, in particular Accounts Payable. This is of particular value to organisations that have high data volumes. The software is web based and is hosted on secure servers. The system is easy to use and can be set up within a day. Once installed the company will be able to report on:
· Historical duplicates
· Current duplicates
· Vendor/Supplier master cleanup
· Credit notes as invoices
· Proforma invoices
· Supplier invoice volume
· Supplier invoice value
· Supplier average invoice value
· Supplier high volume low value
· VAT reports including non standard zero and 100% rates analysis.
We have agreed a licence to sell this product and we are looking for introducers as well as demonstrators to senior decisions makers within larger organisations (over £20m turnover and with high volume AP transactions). There is a flexible pricing model based on company size and data volume. I will be recruiting and managing the sales team and if you are interested then let me know and I will give you an on-line demonstration of the system using real data.
Important Message
My 100% focus continues to be to find new opportunities for you. I am always oiling the networking and marketing machine – it takes time to bear fruit but we are making some excellent contacts.. As always however there is a lot of competition for roles, especially the contract and interims. But the process can be either very fast or very slow, so don’t delay if you see something of interest but please bear with us if things seem to drag on. A few thoughts which might help the process:
- For those new to MA please understand that we send out every opportunity to everyone on the database – we believe that the cafeteria approach where we present it and you select what you want is the most efficient and democratic method. I still get a number of comments every month along the lines – why do you keep sending me jobs that are clearly way below my pay grade, or I live in London so why would I be interested in a job in Mansfield! All I can say is that the delete button is on the right hand side of the keyboard.
- Please make sure that the latest version of your CV is on our database – you can upload a new version using the “member’s data” tab.
- Your CV is your “shop-window” so please ensure that you have done yourself justice.
- Please check that you have completed your professional qualification information on your member record including year qualified and Institute No. Please note that we validate all qualifications listed with the relevant Institute before short listing a candidate.
- When you apply for a position please give yourself the best chance of being short listed by explaining how and why you meet the criteria.
- Finally don’t forget that we will pay you 15% of our commission if you introduce an opportunity that we subsequently fill. Our candidates are becoming some of our best introducers and with over 4,600 of you we have a very powerful lobbying and marketing group.
