June 2010 Update
This is the 3rd newsletter and vacancy update of 2010 and the last 6 weeks has been the busiest I have known it for a long time. Will it continue! As well as finding new opportunities for all my candidates (and there has been quite a selection recently) we have been marketing our new interim service at IMTB. It will take a bit of time to get some real momentum but bear with us. It’s great to be working with Gary Jesson and team at EFM, my JV partner on this.
- We have now set up our interim service at www.imtb.uk.com and over 250 of you have now registered. Our www.babyinterims.com service (Taking the pain out of maternity cover) is creating some great headlines! We have also launched healthy interims (www.healthyinterims.com) for long term sick cover and charity interims (www.charityinterims.com) where we will be rebating 15% of our fee back to the charity.
- IMTB has agreed a reseller licence for a magic piece of software that Geoff Bail the brains behind all my websites has developed. Ap4Ap is a powerful web based diagnostic for identifying duplicate and over payments in large AP systems. We are getting interest from some seriously big companies and if you would like more information let me know and I will send you more information. Usual introducer’s commission applies.
- On the subject of introductions I have been really encouraged by the number of referrals that my candidates have made recently. I have made reference to them individually in my jobs update below. Thanks to you all and keep them coming!

I am always happy to pay commission cheques and my best “introducer” has made over £25,000 in the last 2 years. If you know of any opportunity and can open the door, I will do the rest. Commission payable is 15%. I am looking for permanent and interim roles. If you become a regional Director then the commission rate increases. You find the roles and I do the work.
- In a spare moment I have also set up a new recruitment service for graduates (it’s not just us oldies that sometimes struggle to find work) and you will have seen my announcement a few weeks ago about Redbrick Recruitment - www.redbrickrecruitment.uk.com where my son Nils and his friend David Kettle (both graduating this summer) have taken up the challenge – if you can’t find a decent job (even any job!) then start a business and find work for your mates! I have to say that the reaction in the last 2 weeks has been overwhelming and we have struck a chord. Have a look at the vacancies page on the site to see what the boys have generated already and they have another 4 or 6 jobs to process next week. A personal thank you to all of you that have sent good wishes to Nils and David and even bigger thanks to those of you who have introduced opportunities already. Maybe I can retire soon………………

In these challenging times the power of networking shouldn’t be underestimated. I have an interesting discussion underway on this group – all contributions welcomed the more controversial the better.
- Finally over 100 of you have responded to my CV makeover offer at £99 and many of you have already seen the results at first hand. The before and after examples that I have seen show just how much difference this can make to your “shop window”. If you haven’t taken me up on this yet it’s not too late. The quality of Cvs on Mature is pretty average – in fact it has been quite an eye-opener looking at the Redbrick Cvs which are generally really well presented even though there might not be much experience. Your CV doesn’t need to be tired and jaded.
Important Message
My 100% focus continues to be to find new opportunities for you. I am always oiling the networking and marketing machine – it takes time to bear fruit but we are making some excellent contacts.. As always however there is a lot of competition for roles, especially the contract and interims. But the process can be either very fast or very slow, so don’t delay if you see something of interest but please bear with us if things seem to drag on. A few thoughts which might help the process:
- For those new to MA please understand that we send out every opportunity to everyone on the database – we believe that the cafeteria approach where we present it and you select what you want is the most efficient and democratic method. I still get a number of comments every month along the lines – why do you keep sending me jobs that are clearly way below my pay grade, or I live in London so why would I be interested in a job in Mansfield! All I can say is that the delete button is on the right hand side of the keyboard.
- Please make sure that the latest version of your CV is on our database – you can upload a new version using the “member’s data” tab.
- Your CV is your “shop-window” so please ensure that you have done yourself justice.
- Please check that you have completed your professional qualification information on your member record including year qualified and Institute No. Please note that we validate all qualifications listed with the relevant Institute before short listing a candidate.
- When you apply for a position please give yourself the best chance of being short listed by explaining how and why you meet the criteria.
